Description
Originally designed by William Morris in 1877, Apple is one of his most dynamic and celebrated botanical compositions. Defined by rhythmic, stippled orchard fruit nestled amidst sweeping acanthus leaves and delicate willow foliage, this design captures the lush abundance and organic movement of a traditional English orchard.
Every element of this pattern has been painstakingly hand-drawn, re-mastered, and authentically scaled down to 1:12 miniature proportion. The fine stippled fruit textures and intricate scrolling leaf structures are rendered with razor-sharp fidelity, ensuring the pattern retains Morris’s iconic Arts & Crafts depth without becoming crowded or lost in miniature scale.
Morris’s original block prints relied on natural mineral pigments and botanical dyes—such as Madder Lake, Terre Verte, and traditional indigo—set against warm, unbleached grounds. For our 1:12 scale edition, we start by meticulously studying and matching those archival tones to preserve the historical balance of the original design. From there, we carefully develop our companion palettes across both contrasting layered treatments and unified two-tone editions, thoughtfully balancing tones across the fruit, dense foliage, and fine trailing leaves. Whether you choose the traditional archive colourway, an atmospheric dark ground, or a gentle muted tone, every variation is curated to feel authentic, balanced, and perfectly proportioned for scale interiors.
Printed on premium high-grade matt uncoated paper with an authentic non-reflective surface — eliminating glare and delivering an impeccably realistic, era-accurate look under scale lighting and photography.
Ideal Applications: Country dining rooms, morning rooms, period kitchens, garden rooms, hallways, and traditional Arts & Crafts parlor settings.
